The IRL publishes Consecrated Life, an English language translation of the Vatican publication Informationes—SCRIS, for religious and members of secular institutes.

Consecrated Life is a publication of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and for Societies of Apostolic Life and contains important articles and documentation in various languages. The publication of Consecrated Life, known as Informationes-SCRIS, began in 1975. Publication of the English language version, then known as Consecrated Life, began in 1977.

The publication is the Congregation's own periodical through which it communicates to religious and consecrated persons throughout the world. It reflects the mind of the Congregation and contains valuable current information regarding religious and consecrated life.

The publication aids religious throughout the world in helping them to fulfill the evangelical demands by presenting statements of the Holy Father pertinent to religious and consecrated life, as well as decisions and decrees of the Holy See, important documents and studies, statistical information, a current chronicle of the more significant happenings regarding religious life and consecrated life and the activities of the Congregation.

The late John Joseph Cardinal Carberry, when president of IRL, pointed out, "Each issue of Consecrated Life not only serves as a vital communication link between the Holy See and religious but also labors for the strengthening and renewal of religious congregations and secular institutes in the contemporary world."

The primary purpose of IRL is to serve all religious, consecrated persons and those interested in consecrated life, and to foster a more effective understanding and implementation of the teachings of the Church on religious and consecrated life. Consecrated Life, published annually, helps to fulfill this goal.
